ALL IN A DAY

This is the way we begin our day here at Dog Trot Farm.... Winslow Homer has punched in and is now on duty and in position.....
I remind the girls that this is the only hen I want to see sitting in my window box.....
Remember girls no bathing in the flower gardens....
Iris are you listening?
Okay lets get serious for a moment, girls are your ears turned on?( I use to say that to my preschoolers) To stay safe you ladies need to remain together as a group, no splitting up and running here, there and everywhere. If, God forbid you are taken try and remain calm, go limp and play dead. Think happy thoughts...
Gladys for goodness sake pay attention! If you are taken you will hear me begin to scream and Winslow Homer will be on the run..... Once you are released and your feet hit the ground, start running for home.... run just as fast as you're little feet will take you.
Yes, Pip I am talking to you too. I will scoop you up and carry you back to safety. I will give you blueberries and Winslow....
" Winslow wake up it's not break time yet", what a life this dog leads, yup all in a day at Dog Trot Farm....

I love your post tonight, Julie. If Pip needs a good lesson on an AA 12 step program - Marigold the Goat over at Goat Philosophy 101 has entered the 12 step program because she no longer has control over her biting fettish - she has a great way of "interpreting" the 12 steps in her own goatee way. Have a good evening, you have a beautiful farm, and animals. Take care, from KY. Oh, and thanks for visiting my blog, I hope you like the chocolate chip bars - alas, mine are all gone now.

Julie this post is so cute and funny. CH and I can't quit laughing! I love the chicken in the box too! Did you see the rooster at the place Evis visited with Morgan and Lucy in her blog post? You popped in my mind so quick I couldn't believe it! It is so nice to see Little Pip, umm grown up like a big girl Pip :) Love, love, love the "Eggs 4 Sale Sign".

Enjoyed this post. Our girls don't listen well either. And loved the dirt bath in front of the rhodie- ours have done the same thing- they've burrowed a trough across the roots of the poor bush.

Winslow has the same thankless job as our Cairn, Rosie - those hens just don't pat attention....and Rosie has the added danger of the goats, who don't mind hens but aren't sure of fluffy dogs!

Julie - let me know how the bars turn out. Yes, it is sunny and beautiful here today in KY - a little humid from the rain we've been having, but dryer than in the past week or so. But warm enough to warrant the use of the A/C. Happy baking, and stay dry there in Maine. Take care.

The chickens don't seem to be listening to you, and Winslow is sleeping on his job as guard dog. I'm going to have to return to see the outcome of this! Maine is a beautiful state!
