Awesome giveaway.
Our garden tip is to put sheets of newspaper under your tomato plants, clip off all bottom branches and this will keep them disease free. Plus it keeps the weeds down. In the fall you can just til the newspaper under. (Use only the white pages)

Hi Julie - first, thanks for visiting my blog - I left a comment to your comment! LOL My tip on baking bread is to warm the bowls you will be using for mixing the dough with hot tap water to take the chill off, then your yeast will proof better. And make sure when you add your yeast to the water to add a little sweetening agent, this helps the yeast activate, and let the yeast sit in the water/sugar for about 10minutes so it can proof, and you know that it is still viable, and try to use bread flour - this helps in the rising of the bread, and overall quality of the result. HTH some. Take care, from KY. I love your giveaway items - thanks for offering them. And I have no place to keep Gladys anyway, so she's safe. 8-)

How egg-citing!!! Well, as you may know, poultry is my favorite topic these days :) And I'm probably going to give you a tip you already knew, or perhaps you've seen me raving about this on my blog.. but plain yogurt will bring those chickens running to you. They absolutely love it, but hey.. stand back.. it gets rather messy for all involved :)

What a fantastic giveaway.. thanks! -Tammy

I love your giveaways! My chicken keeping tip is "corn". When one of my chickens are very sick & on their death bed, and they don't want to eat anymore, I offer them cooked frozen corn. They always will eat corn - they never turn it down. It's brought back several of my sick chicks and sick hens & roosters, too. Everyone loves corn!

What a gorgeous giveaway - even without Gladys!
My tip?.........handle your chickens and goats young and handle them often and you'll never have trouble rounding them up, picking them up or doing anything you need to do with them.
Baking tip?....parchment paper. It was a revelation to me!

After the coop is cleaned, and it is time to put fresh shavings in, just dump the shavings into a pile in the coop and don't bother to spread them out. The "girls" will do it on their own. This gives them something to do and they somehow manage to spread the shavings evenly throughout the coop!!

Well I DO have room for Gladys but she's not the give-away. The other goodies look great though. hmmmmm trying to think of a chicken tip to give someone who I'm sure knows lots already ~ well, my girls go crazy over strawberries and tomatoes and LOVE spaghetti noodles (cooked). I'll have to try the plain yogurt as suggested in the previous post.

Woof! Woof! GREAT Giveaway ... we would like to participate. Since I kind a destroy stuffs on the ground, my mom plants stuffs in a container pots.If you have little or no space for a traditional garden, then container pots gardening is your best choice. Also, container gardens can be a charming way to decorate your patio, entryway or deck. Although container gardens generally need more watering and feeding, they are quite easy/effortless to maintain and care for. Container gardens are also a great solution if you are considering an herb garden as they can be placed conveniently near the kitchen door or in a kitchen window box. Like I have ... we planted different kinds of Basil, Oregano, Thyme and Rosemary. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

My prize, right? I shall enter in hopes all those treasures will be mine.

My tip: Don't walk in the chicken house bare-footed...does that count as a tip?

Now for the serious tip: You can recycle the egg shells. Some people bake them and then crumble them for the chickens but we just crumle ours. This helps provide grit and some extra calcium.

Don't knopw if this would count as a garden tip...here it is anyway. Essential oil of Oregano applied net to aching knees and fingers reduces pain temporarily. I use it on my arthritic knees and it helps relief enough to asleep.Smells better than Ben Gay too.
Gladys might like my "girls" run with.

My tip is for the garden. Use 4 eggs mixed into a quart of water and let stand outside in a shaded area for a day. Spray on plants to keep deer from eating those new sprouts and blooms!

Hi Julie~
I'm sure I don't have any new tip that you've never heard of before that could be any help to you but I'll give it a go. hmmm.... chickens, gardening, baking or crafting?
Well, I don't have chickens so I'm definitely out on that one. I'm not a very good baker, our brownies come from a box. Gardening~ well, your pictures make mine look like weeds so I'll pass on that one and ask you to send me your gardening tips. Ok, that leaves crafting and I'm sure this is something you probably already do. I keep a bag for all the scraps of fabric and thread that I cut from my projects. They make great filling for your beautiful stuffed hooked pillows, which I'm in awe of. :)
Hope that's enough to get my name in your drawing. Stay cool.
Hugs~ Birgit

Oh WOW! What a great idea. Lovely giveaway items Julie (even the packaging!!!). It's just as well I can't think of any useful tips, specially as I live across the puddle (that would be awkward for posting!). I've LOVED seeing others tips tho (Eve as usual makes me LOL) (-: Good luck and may the best blogger win!

Julie ok, ok, ok! I have a garden tip. CH wants me to give you his garden tip. He won't stop bugging me to tell you. Uh, always and I mean always wear your helmet! No,No,No. You already know that and that is a tip for RIDING. Dang. CH's tip is to trim back your sedum a third in mid June.I know we are a little late with this tip. Trim back so the sedum isn't all falling down on it's sweet little flower faces in December. And Julie if you don't have sedum we could just pass this tip on to Eve, ok? Cause I know she has sedum :) Such a sweet fun giveaway. Thank you. It's ok about Gladys, that she is not part of the giveaway cause there is no way that I could take as good a care of that girlie as you :) I hope I am not disqualified for too long of a comment. The End.

Here's a tip for you and the girls. When their run gets a bit wet, toss in a flake of straw. They sure do love it. They scratch and play and move the straw about looking for seeds, and they create a nice dry spot at the same time!

Hello! Gardening tip here!...when you're planting tomatoes, place about 1 tablespoon of crushed (washed) egg shells in the hole before you plant your tomatoes. I'm not sure why this works, but I got some really hearty tomatoes when I tried this...and not just the tomatoes, but the plants, too! Oh, and you've probably done this already having grown up on an island, but dried seaweed makes fantastic nourishment for the garden. A thin layer tilled in and you're good to go. And, it gives your garden just the hint of a briney smell, too! Fun giveaway, thanks!

oh and a photography tip I find really useful...focus on one detail of a particular subject rather then the subject as a whole. It makes for a more interesting picture...example, just the chicken's eye and head, or comb, or tail feathers, something like that. ~Vonnie

The giveaway is so you and your 'girls'. Glad Gladys will still be around for our visits. Love all the tips posted.
My tip .... to not have to worry about finding the time to weed, just plant perennial plants. The weeds blend in really well and the gardens look lush and healthy....
serious tip - add nutrition to home baked goods by adding a puree of blueberries and spinach - yes, spinach or sweet potato puree or parsnip puree. No real change in the flavor of a baked good, but good added vitamins and minerals. Needs to be something chocolate for the blueberry puree. All vegetables are cooked before pureeing and only a 1/4 cup or so is added to start. (more on my other blog - countryfun.edublogs.org)
