AN AFTERNOON STROLL

Fall is announcing it's presence... the signs are subtle... a distinct vibrancy to the afternoon sky.... Perfect weather for a stroll....
through the orchard, my later father in-law's pride and joy....
where apple trees proudly show off their bounty....
a Fuzzy Bear caterpillar....
Bittersweet....natures offering for decorators everywhere....
into the wood....where squirrels and chipmunks scamper helter- skelter preparing for the long winter months soon to come....
the iridescent "rag weed".... a nemesis of country dwellers everywhere....
a gift left by a feathered friend...
ferns hidden by the shade of the woods...
around the bend...where leaves begin to softly carpet the forest floor... and if you tread oh so lightly.... you might have the good fortune to stumble upon fairies in their magical setting...
" If you see a faery ring
In a field of grass
Very lightly step around,
Last night faeries frolicked there,
And they're sleeping somewhere near.

If you see a tiny fairy,
Lying fast asleep
Shut your eyes
And run away,
Do not peek!
Do not tell
Or you'll break a faery spell".

~William Shakespeare~

Julie - thank you for taking me along on your walk - it was wonderful, and beautiful - look out for the faeries! Take care, from KY.

Lovely, lovely poem, when my kids were small we came upon a fairy ring. We all sat in the grass and looked ever so hard for the fairy's.
You reminded me of that when I read your post. I loved taking a stroll with you. Thank you too, for your very kind comments. Also, for liking my pictures, I have long admired yours so I feel so honored when a master likes my feeble attempt. :)
Enjoy your fall weather. It was sort of like that today, after the heat, it has been balm for my soul.

We have sweet clover, red clover and clover here, but no four-leaf clovers, nor true shamrocks. I would like to find a four leaf clover some day.

Fall is here also.

Julie, a perfectly lovely stroll. I didn't know you had an apple orchard on your property-how wonderful. The house looks so cute tucked back there among the trees. No apple orchard for us, but when I look at that shot it reminds me of our west field. We have some peach trees! CH made an arbor after being inspired by Eve's that leads into that west field. I am trying to pull a post together but.....pro-cras-tin-ation :)

I loved going along on your stroll with you Julie. What a perfectly loverly place! I love the red maple leaves photo particularly. Why is that yellow flower a nemesis? Just curious.

I love fall so much. I was trying to figure out why that's so, but seeing all of your photos and your descriptions makes me realize why. I always feel so much peace.
