INTERVALE FARM

Some of you out in "blog land" have inquired as to where I purchase my pumpkins. The answer to that inquiry is Intervale Farm in New Gloucester, Maine. This farm offers the most amazing selection of pumpkins, squash, and gourds. This morning, as we arrived my husband and I were greeted by this lovely little booted Millefleur bantam.
I asked Jan the owner what her name was and I do believe she looked at me as if I were crazy. I was thinking " what this sweet little gal has no name," well If she were mine, I would give her a name like "Zsa-Zsa." I found her to be quite elegant. Later, as my husband reminded me not everyone who owns chickens feels the need to name them as I do. Getting back to pumpkins.... you will find large ones....
tall ones....
warty ones....
soft grey teal ones....
pumpkin pie filling...

white ghosts...
yellow ones....
Neck pumpkins....
Jack o lantern....

there are so many pumpkins it's hard to choose....
squash...
gourds....
and more gourds....
even my husband had a hard time making a decision....

striped and speckled....

warts and spots.... one advantage to purchasing pumpkins at this farm.... the owners take care to make sure the stems remain intact...a key feature for a true pumpkin carver....
little boos...

Cinderellas.... Of course I needed to end this post by talking about the chickens...just look at the elegant walkway these girls have...a weather proofed ramp...from the barn down into the chicken yard below.
again no name.... I think she looks like a Rosemary, what do ya think?

How I wish I could go to this farm. The pumpkins are wonderful. It's still a bit early here and I couldn't find any that knocked my socks off this weekend. These are beauties. I agree with you--Zsa Zsa and Rosemary are perfect :) We name all ours too!

All of your pumpkin pics are great. I never knew there were so many different kinds.
I LOVE that chicken canopy ramp. You NEED to build one for the girls. Gladys is just as good as Zsa Zsa and Rosemary.......LOL

Yep, Rosemary and Zsa Zsa, perfecto! (-: WOW! We just don't really 'do' the pumpkin bit over here across the puddle, tho Halloween is becoming more of a thing over here. I'm amazed as all the different types!!! I can imagine why it takes a wee while to make any buying decisions! Looks like fun! (-:

That is the prettiest farm. But I have to tell you how it tickled me when you asked that lady the name of her chicken. I have those kind of bantams and they have attitudes. I thought that was so cute. I do think that Red Star in the last picture looks like a Rosemary.

I don't know where the bees went, and it is a experiment I won't repeat.
Chickens are so much nicer. I will pay the money for honey now and not complain.
That is why Bee Hive Collapse is such a mystery, no one knows where the bees go or why. Mine were really put out when we robbed them. They just packed up all of the brood and the honey we had left them to winter by they left every thing clean though so that was curious, better than renters I think.
I think I would have needed to spend more time with them than I did and I was afraid and they could smell it so it made them sting me. I learned a lot and I am glad I did it. I think it is a fun thing but next time I get a bright idea, it will be something without a stinger. :)

What a pretty chicken Zsa Zsa is! What a great farm! I will have to visit to try some of the various squashes and pumpkins to help me decide what to plant next year.

What chickens with no names? Terrible. Absurd. Seriously they have to have names. Love the shot of your hubby, he looks a tad overwhelmed. He probably thought you were going to take them all Julie. And give them names. We name our Halloween pumpkins. I know, we are just a little goofy here but we have fun!

What a nice post to come back to after my summer away from "blogland!" And I agree with the name Zsa Zsa,... she certainly deserves to have a lovely name. Heck, I even name my car and my camper! :)
