A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

A BIG heartfelt thank you from all of us here at Dog Trot Farm.... for all the kind words and well wishes in regards to Winslow Homer. We are adapting to a new routine here, Winslow now has BREAKFAST followed by an insulin shot at 6:00 am and another with supper at 6:00 pm. He certainly is not complaining about two square meals a day.... plus a snack! We have been informed of all the bad things that can occur in regards to canine diabetes, but prefer to focus on the positive. Blessings to each and everyone of you. ~Julie & Winslow Homer~

Well, that is good news indeed. We are all so happy to hear that you are both adapting well.

A big scratch between the ears for Winslow Homer and a hug for you - it sounds like you two are coping well.
This evening Rory is nearly back to normal and has had several gentle walks. Best of all, he hasn't been licking and so hasn't had to endure the Cone of Shame.

I woke up in the night thinking about you and Winslow. He is such a great little dog. I told my husband about it this morning over coffee and told my husband that Winslow's favorite store was Wal Mart, right? He laughed. I am like you focus on the positives. I love the picture when he is in the chicken pen looking out for the foxes. I mean I feel like he is in my life by all of his cute little antics. I will keep him in my prayers. Blessing to you and your husband.

Yes focus on the positive and take comfort in knowing that you are giving him the care he so deserves as a member of your family.

As a parent of an insulin-dependent child AND a vet tech, I'm very impressed with your great attitude! I often see folks become nearly overwhelmed when their dog is first diagnosed, but really it is very doable. You are way ahead of the game with facing it head on and being willing to learn what to do and expect! You are an awesome "parent!" I just love Winslow Homer (terriers are by far my favorite) and he reminds me of my most beloved dog ever, my little Australian terrier, Lockey. (Gone several years now and I still miss her daily). Every one in my family knows who Winslow is, and got a great chuckle out of the picture of Winslow in the chicken coop! Like Lockey, he moves about the chickens without a thought to harming them.

We love Winslow too, you are the lucky one to live with him! I adore every post he's in and am always looking for him in the pictures. You scared me when you started that post about the diagnosis, and although not a good thing, I was relieved it wasn't worse. Best of luck to you all.

I am feeling a sense of relief with you as I read Jill's comment before mine. And she's the voice of experience! Very doable, indeed, and I have the utmost confidence in you and Winslow Homer. You are, after all, a great team! Hugs to both! -Tammy

I forgot to mention that my OTHER dog, and Lockey's best friend, was my rough collie named Bailey. The vet said they'd be a good match before I got my collie puppy, and he was so right! They were inseparable - I imagine you saw that with Chloe and Winslow, too.

Hugs to your sweet boy.

Kisses to Winslow Homer. I know this must be difficult on both of you but especially him because he doesn't understand why he has to have shots all the time. Yes, do think positive thoughts.

Winslow looks just like my daughter's first dog. His name was Shakespeare. I'm so sorry that WH has been diagnosed with diabetes, but if anyone can take care of him, it's you. You're such a good dog mom!
