SPRING TEASE

How quickly the days pass....winter is slowly evolving into spring....days are becoming longer....temperatures warming....and the sap is running....sunny days and cool nights are the perfect conditions for maple syrup season....Today the day dawned bright and the temperature climbed....there was a bit of spring to the air. The girls were most anxious for an outing....to locate a patch of dry earth to bathe in....and the pure joy of scratching around in the warm earth. I dare not tell them these warm sunny days are just a tease....I am sure there is more winter in store for us. I know this because my DH put the snow blower away.... The girls fared quite well this winter considering all the snow we accumulated. As you can see by the above photo there remains a large amount of snow in surrounding fields.... then of course there is mud season....and by the looks of my driveway it appears to be upon us....oh and don't forget those dang potholes....guaranteed to put one's vehicle out of alignment....all sure signs of spring.... Nonetheless the girls scrambled out the coop door and headed for dry ground....some ventured off for some private "me" time....while others bathed in unison....

simple pure delight in the warmth of the afternoon sun....
Lulu Belle opted for a siesta....

while Charlotte and Iris decide to hang together....discussing coop politics....and Winslow Homer.... well.... it was another week of vet visits and blood tests....his blood glucose appears to be under control, the main issue remains with his liver....Most mornings Winslow is still able to address our squirel population....Skippy in particular....and sleeps the afternoon away....
this afternoon however....he did what any red blooded dog would do on such a warm springlike day as this....he rolled in all the chicken poop he could locate....that's my boy!
Winslow and I would like to thank everyone for all the cards, notes, e-mails, and especially for all the prayers offered....Blessings to you all, Julie.

Julie, I love those chicken pictures. Poor you, now you'll have to bath Homer Winslow. So glad that his glucose level are under control. For some reason dogs love to get dirty and sometimes it's the worst dirt they like to roll into.

Have a great weekend. JB

this is good news julie, that his week was decent...let's hope the liver remains in good shape. all of your chicken babies are so pretty. isn't it funny that the golden ones hang together and didn't mingle that day!

The girls are all so cute!! I think Winslow deserved to roll in the poo with all he has had to deal with lately!! I'm sure with a quick bath he was just like new!
Happy Spring,

Winslow Homer is relishing in all that the warm weather has to offer! Glad he is holding steady and enjoying the squirrels.

Here's hoping no more snow will come our way! Yesterday my younger daughter went skiing while my older daughter was riding around in a convertible with her friend. LOL!

I love to see happy chickens! And as for the little poopy pup, I'm so glad he's feeling better. It's so hard to see them doing poorly. My dog likes racoon scat, but then, he doesn't have chickens! LOL
Enjoy the Spring weather!

I just read your last two posts. I am so glad that Winslow Homer has made it through the week and that he has the energy to chase squirrels. Here's hoping he makes that full recovery and gets to enjoy a squirrel-filled spring!

it looks like the girls enjoyed their outing and winslow homer had a time with the poop. It was nice her the past two days and a promise of one more day of sunshine. We are still snow covered I am waiting for that small patch to open up on the lawn so I can see grass. thinking of winslow homer hope he continues to do well.
