AND THE RAIN BEGAN....

Friday... being one of those days...weather wise..that New Englanders patiently wait for...sunny... cool... breezy.... and knowing the weather forecast calls for rain...rain...for the next five to seven days...everyone in the neighborhood had their main focus directed towards the care of their yard. I being no exception... The rich color... emerald green... is all abound... fluffy daffodils with their sweet fragrance still delights one's senses...the weather warm enough to don shorts...and a gardening hat was well in need... Friday morning...prior to gardening ...I went to a tag sale hosted by Tiff of the blog Folded Gingham...two perfect garden containers were just sitting waiting for my arrival ...a galvanized tool box like carrier...which for now I have placed my $1.18 Wal- Mart Stock flowers in...I do recall when Tiff did a post on this find and I thought to myself why can't I find treasures such as this? Lucky me...she was willing to part with it... secondly... a perfect little red wooden bucket which I quickly filled with Alyssum...a perfect little white lacy flower which dresses the bucket up quite nicely...and by the way just the right touch needed for the front door step...thank you Tiff... I love my finds.

Okay...after this post I promise to get off my Wal-Mart soap box...but if you reside in New England... you know and live with the evil dreaded "Black Flies" ... a tiny gnat which can drive a sane man crazy... they fly in your ears...up your nose...in your mouth...give a red welt which eventually itches to no end...but there is a new weapon in town...a product by OFF...I was skeptical...but for $8.50 I was willing to give it a try...Clip it to your clothing...turn the fan on...and it really did keep the bug population away...now mosquitoes season has not hit yet...but... I hold out hope this little battery powered machine will help keep the insects at bay...it runs for twelve hours...comes with batteries and a refill insecticide package...

Now... If you have a diabetic dog such as Winslow Homer...let me just say...100 syringes for $12.58 Wal-Mart...we had been purchasing them 2/$1.00... finally...my gardening side kick... Iris...a Buff Orpington...buffs are some of the sweetest chickens you will ever meet...friendly...talkative...and a pro at weeding...if you do not keep chickens...you just don't know what your'e missing...

finally...thank you to all who commented on my prior post...as most of you know there was an issue with Blogger which appears to have been resolved...however... when the post was reposted...the comments were lost....have a great week everyone...someone send me some sunshine!!!

I'd love to send you some sunshine, but here on Ohio's north coast it is a rare commodity. Today was more like early March than mid May.
I'm just thankful my livlihood does not depend on the weather and I'm also thankful I don't have to worry about flooding!
Hugs :)

We haven't had a day without rain all week and the coming week looks wet too. I feel soggy! Lol.
You have head start with the flowers. Looking good. I haven't seen any black flies yet but I'm sure I'll be bitten any day now.

Buff Orpingtons are on my wish if I ever get my wish that is. Iris is lovely BTW.

I lost so many comments too - there were a lot of us annoyed with poor old blogger.
Great finds you've made!...love that bucket.

I would gladly share my sunshine but mine is all liquid at the moment. By now, I'm getting a bit worries about getting things ready for gardening. We might have a lean year if this rain continues for much longer. JB

Love your tool box and the red bucket with the white alyssum is wonderful!
I bought one of those gadgets for bugs and mosquitoes last year and I have to say they work pretty well! We have hordes of mosquitoes here later in the summer! So it's a rush to get the weeding done before they get too bad!
I'll be checking good old Walmart now too for those syringes. I just bought a box for 29.00 so will be another month and I'll need them.

Can't send you any sunshine from here either, it's a cool, windy and damp UK this morning. Love your two new garden containers and your gardening companion too:)

Oh what a sweet spring day you had! You took some prize winning pics of it too! :-) Great finds from Tiff! I'm trying some Alyssum in my garden this year too... just have to wait for the rain to stop so I can plant them! lol! :-)

I'll be trying that OFF fan! The mosquitoes are out in droves and the gnats are horrible.
No sunshine from northern WV, either!

I have sunshine right now, but not sure for how long. Can't even get out to work on anything its so wet. My horses are twitchy to stay out a little longer. Love your blog name... one of my jack russells' "trotted" right down to the pond and got bit by a copperhead over the weekend. Home today nursing a huge puffy and painful bite. Have a great day with all of your wonderful sale finds. Debi

I wish I could send ole Mr. Sun to you for a visit but I haven't seen him in a couple of days and I won't be seeing him until next week either. Rain for us too. I knew if I put my winter clothes away and it was like doing a modern rain dance.
It looks very pretty there in Maine though and I love your finds.
Have a nice week.
