THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

Fall in New England is a magical time...
A time when days grow shorter and temperatures begin to drop...we soon discover nature's bounty by driving back roads...the road less traveled. Farm stands dot the countryside...pumpkins glow in brilliant shades of orange and green...some speckled..some striped...
gourds discovered in many shapes and sizes...October is the month for pumpkins..some will find their way into a pie plate while others carved into spooky creatures announcing Halloween's arrival...On this day we find the countryside ablaze with color.. fields of gold.. sugar maple.. beech and oak trees provide a kaleidoscope of color. Their brilliance reflected in a pond below... clouds billow in and soon the rain begins to fall... we drive higher into the hills...in the blink of an eye the clouds simply float away...
and the reflection appears once again...this day has become cold...we decide it is time...the kindling is brought in and soon the flame is burning bright...there is warmth and the fragrance of cinnamon and clove fills the air...yes..it is Fall in New England...such a lovely time of year...my favorite time of year...

Gorgeous post Julie! You still have leaves there! Not many left on the trees here now!
Stay warm and cozy!

Yes, you live in a beautiful place. It's been SO dry here most of our leaves are gone and were just brownish yellow for the most part.

Julie, I wish I lived closer to New England. I would be like girl gone wild with all this place has to offer. Love your pictures. Happy Fall.

So utterly beautiful!! I just love your pictures and your words. I was picking gourds yesterday. It is so fun to find each one because each one is so different.

Simply beautiful!!! We were in Washington state last week and it reminded me of New England-colors galore and such beauty. I love all the New England states-wish I had a trip planned before the snows come. Have a great week.

Julie, your photos are just beautiful. I was just commenting to my husband today how fast the leaves have changed colors already. A lot of the bright red and orange colors are falling and we see more brown and yellow in just a few days. Lots of bare trees already.JB

Julie - great photos! I've never been to New England in the fall, but it's on my bucket list. Soon I hope! We don't get much in the way of seasons down here in hot Texas. We have summer, and summer, and more summer, and then January and February. That's about it! haha! With our drought this year, there will not be much autumn color - except brown - dead leaves brown. Thanks for sharing some of your beauty with us less fortunate!
