Rainy days are not my forte and it appears neither are they for a particular grey squirrel who has decided to relocate his place of residence to that of a dry chicken coop. The hens, not happy about an intruder, promptly opted for an outing despite the dismal weather conditions. The rodent remained ensconced in the coop till Mr. Dog Trot arrived home. A scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation(squirrel jumps out of the Christmas tree and attaches itself onto various family members) was not to be had on my watch...
Despite the abundance of rain and lack of sunshine, flower and vegetable gardens are taking hold...and when chickens do not adhere to the terms agreed upon when sharing a patch of earth...chicken wire along with a "NO TRESPASSING" sign is installed.
The big red IH tractor made it's appearance early this year- typically seen the second week of June, this year's hay crop was ready before the end of May.
Gladys, Pearly Mae, Pheobe, LuLu Belle, Beatrix and Henny Penny enjoy abit of sunshine before the rain...treats of oatmeal with blueberries aid in keeping the girl's spirits up and when spirits are up so is egg production...the colors of summer are beginning to appear in the perennial bed...how I enjoy the feeling of dirt in my hands...

Hi Marmee, yup, there is nothing better than snuggling that little baby and then it just gets better and better and better! Enjoy, Dawn
Julie ~
I'll send you some sunshine if you'll send me some rain. Oh, we are way too dry for early June.
Love your pics - as always - especially the one of you and your precious new grand.
Pug hugs :)

I had a visit from my little grand daughter this weekend to tide me over until I see her at the beach
I too am feeling moldy.

love that scene from christmas vacation.
Julie,
Looks like your summer is in full swing! The baby sure is adorable! Hopefully the sun will shine there soon..... the mosquitoes have just started to come out here in WI after the last couple of rains.... one of the "joys" of summer here (not).... at least my gardens are weeded now for awhile!!
Happy cuddling Marmee!!

What a beautiful grandbaby you have! and Julie, I hear you on the rain...we are so sick of it down here in NH as well. I'm starting to feel puckery! My girls refuse to stay in their coop, even if there is pouring rain, so they are a wet sodden mess every night when they finally retire to the coop. They will lay under it, but refuse to go in until dusk arrives, silly ladies. Here's to hoping the sun will come back soon, I know we're ready for it, too! ~Vonnie
No sunshine here to send your way. Soggy, soggy, soggy. The nice thing about a koi pond is that at least one being on the property is happy!
I would love to send you some sunshine, but we have a stormy day today too. We don't have stormy, cold days in June. Well, except the years I had my kids in swimming lessons. :)
Your Grandson is just beautiful. That is a good picture. I love your flower beds so filled with flowers. They looks so pretty.
I hope it warms up soon. Enjoy your days at Dog Trot.
I didn't know squirrels growled. Did you know skunks scream, like a banshee? It is so scary.
I'll have to admit that I hooted when I read about Mr. and the squirrel growling!!!! I've heard squirrels chatter and gripe, but never growl.
Marmee, oh, that brings up memories of good reading. Lovely little one.
Sunshine for you,
Sharon
Wow, the hay crop is early this year, already making hay bales....
That baby is adorable even though I only see half the face. Being a Marmee is the best feeling.
I don't know wether squirrels bark or not but I know that they bite. Wishing your hubby good luck in catching it.
Have a great week. JB
If I had any to send ... it would be on the way to you,
and that Sweet Grand Babe of yours.
It has been rainy and cold here
for days ... my DH made me a fire this afternoon,
my nose, toes and hands were so Cold.
Fingers & Toes crossed for some warm sunshine
for both of us. :-)
Blessings & Hugs ~ Connie xox

It all looks so lovely and summery in spite of the rain. No sunshine to send you from here I'm afraid - it's more like late October, wet and windy and cold:( Lovely photo of you with Travis.
