This is the blog of an Island girl who married a country boy. A girl who's always longed for a farm and a menagerie of animals. Watch and read as the dream begins to unfold.
You never really know what goes on behind closed doors...and that holds true inside a hen house too...silly girls...don't you know... two's company...but... three is a crowd...
The same thing, I have three Mille Fluers and all of them think right now on 102 degree day that all of them need to become broody and sit in the same nest box. I just threw them out and shut the door, so there are three very mad hens standing outside the coop door complaining about me. Silly hens. I like your shots though,
Good Evening Julie, not to much happening, still hot out this way. Enjoyed the pictures of the hens, used to love to go to my Aunties farm every summer many moons ago, life was good. Wishing you a great week, Blessings Francine.
I don't know why our hens prefer to lay all their eggs in one nest box when there is a choice of boxes. Must be a need in the minds of the hens to stick together!
Inside my coop, one girl has taught all the other girls to pluck out each others feathers! GGGRRRR! The roo is the only one unscathed by this behavior. I've got birds that look like they have some dreaded disease.
Thanks for checking on my blog, Julie! Yes, the sketches are my own, I have been drawing and writing more since I'm not working right now, it's been fun. Have a great day! ~Vonnie
I don't live on a farm now but I did live on a hobby farm several years ago. At that time, I didn't realize that I would miss the country life, but I do. We had chickens and I enjoyed watching their crazy antics.
I want to invite you to my Paws and Claws Pet Day which is each Friday. If you are interested in doing a guest post about any of your animals, contact me and I will schedule a Friday feature for you. I have a feature on my blog now about my two doxies that you might enjoy.
Too bad I don't feature babies because your grandson would be a hit for sure! He is a cutie pie! ------ Shannon

Now if it was cold outside we could understand. Maybe they have been affected by the heat, lol. They are cute though!!
Oh golly, not much. We've had several broody ones lately. We also used a branch for perch in front of the nesting boxes. Looks very similar to ours :)
We have two rooster-less girls roosting in the same box. Every evening we tip them up and take the eggs - they don't seem to mind!
Aren't they funny all jammed in there. How lucky you got a picture of them.
Ha! Very cute.
Better a nesting box than a stew pot! They are just so funny! Really cute!

I'm playing catch-up! LOVE all the pics of Travis!
Pug hugs :)

My hens say it's just way too hot to share a box so they are using the open nest.

They are so cute! Things are quiet in my coop! LOL
My girls do the same thing, I thought it was only mine. Glad to see it's a common thing. Yes, it's way too hot for such behavior.
