SADNESS~

May she spread her wing's and soar... Today, while reading a recent post from the blog Octoberfarm, I learned of the death of Kary, writer of the My Farmhouse Kitchen blog. I know many of you too are devoted fans. Kary was a kindred spirit, being that she loved everything New England and her dear dog Teddy. I living in New England and my devotion to old Mr. Winslow Homer made us e-mailing pals. I did not know Kary had been ill, just assumed she was taking a break from the blogging world. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere condolence to her family and dearest friends, she will be greatly missed. With sadness, Julie.

So sorry to hear this. I wasn't familiar with Kary or her blog.. but I took the opportunity just now to try to get to know her a little bit via the blog. I loved this poem (below) that is on her sidebar..and her gorgeous Teddy.

the night will never stay,
the night will still go by,
though with a million stars
you pin it to the sky;
though you bind it with
the blowing wind,
and buckle it with the moon,
the night will slip away
like sorrow or a tune.

Kary was amazing and I'll miss her friendship so much already! We used to email all the time, talk about simple things, like what we were going to make for dinner, great cookbooks, wine and our dogs...

She didn't want to blog about her cancer, she told me she didn't want people feeling sorry for her, her plan was to tell everybody why she had taken a blog break . . .

The world has lost a truly kind woman.

Oh my goodness, Julie, this has caught me off guard. Kary and I emailed quite a bit,late last year and she told me about her very new diagnosis. Her last post was 10 months ago and I cried when I went back and read it. Thank you for letting me know.

Hi Julie, Like you I had gotten to know Kary through her blog and also emailing back and forth for the last several years. Kary let me know when she got cancer and we emailed on a regular basis-so I could check in on her. I had walked through a similar situation with my own sister. I last heard from her in the spring and then when she stopped emailing, I thought it might not be good; however it was a shock to hear she had passed away. I cried and knew so many would be feeling the same way. I tried to find some fellow bloggers who might not have found out but only found a couple-I wish I would have know to contact you. She will be greatly missed! Sending hugs to you today.
