Tuesday, this day dawned with a sky of brilliant blue, the air cool and crisp... just as it did on that fateful September day, September 11th, 2001...A day that remains vivid and clear in my mind. September 11th, Mohammad Atta boarded a plane at the Portland International Jetport, an airport less than thirty minutes from my home. Atta shopped the previous evening at Walmart, the Walmart where I regularly browse. Mohammad Atta was at the controls of American Airlines flight 11, the airplane which flew into the North tower. The North tower was home to the restaurant Windows On The World, a restaurant where I have dined. I still find it difficult to wrap my mind around these facts. September 11th is a day that has left me forever changed, a day which I will never forget. May God Bless America and all the people who love her...

Hi, While I didn't go to the places you've mentioned, I still grieve for those who lost loved ones in this attack. I pray for physical and emotional healing of those who served by searching the buildings. I doubt there are any adults that will ever forget this tragedy. Indeed May God Bless our country and heal our nation.

so very sad. my husband was on the phone in a conference call with people that died. the line went dead. then one of the planes flew over our city and crashed right outside of it. i grabbed my kids from school and held them close.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky that day. There wasn't a commercial plane in sight over the school yard that day either. In the afternoon, military jets flying in formation flew over the school. It was so eery. The headlines read "THE UNTHINKABLE" in my local paper that night. I'll never forget it. God Bless America.
This is has hit pretty close to your home Julie, having been where Mohammad Atta went before the attack... It's hard to wrap my mind around such a senseless act too
What a sad day of remembrance. Our lives have been changed for ever also even if this attack didn't happened on our soil. Boarding a plane or going across the border is no longer a routine thing for us. Everything has to go through tough security to go visit our neighbours across the border.
Hugs, JB
I remember that day like yesterday! I was painting our family room and called my husband after the first plane hit. Horrendous!
Julie ~
I will NEVER forget even though remembering brings tears to my eyes.
God Bless this great Land that I so dearly love.
Hugs :)

We were in Maine that dreadful day also. My brother-in-law lost a cousin in the towers.
Hello Julie, really so so sad, I will never forget that fateful day. Had the t.v. on, waiting for Martha Stewart to start and on came this veiw of the first plane hitting the tower, then the second plane, did not know what was happening, but was horrible. Will never ever forget, can`t believe Julie it hit you so close to home. Saddens me so, God Bless America, Land That I Love. Blessings Francine.
I feel the same way.
I remember too looking out the windows of windows of the world restaurant. Some things are etched in our minds.
Hi Julie.
I am leaving this comment quite a bit late. I just found this blog from your comment on Acorn Hollow. I too am in Southern Maine, in Biddeford. And I wish my babies were just babies and I would love to have egg-laying hens!
Your pictures are captivating, I'll keep visiting to see what you're up to, and we can commiserate or rejoice according to the weather.
