AS DARKNESS FALLS~

As darkness falls...the wind's powerful force has intensified as the rain pelts against the windowpane...
Sandy has found us here in New England... lights have begun to flicker...a signal that it's only a matter of time before the electricity is lost...we here at Dog Trot Farm remain safe and dry...
the chickens are tucked safely in their coop... a large fat pumpkin provides entertainment as well as being a nutritious snack...my snack...not so nutritious... Sadie Mae is asleep in her favorite chair and Winslow Homer remains nervously by my side...
Over my shoulder I noticed Mr. Jack watching me as I put a pumpkin pie in the oven...
while a beef stew warmed on the wood stove...cornbread too...
For those of you who are in Sandy's way please stay safe...

Your place sounds cosy and that pumpkin pie sounds mighty good.
The wind is blowing loudly here on the River St John in front of our house and I don't sleep well in the noise.

I will have to go to work at the barn in whatever weather there is tomorrow morning.

I hope that all will be safe.

Hope Sandy is well spent by the time she reaches Maine. I grew in upstate NY and know that losing the power is a novelty for a day or two and then it just becomes less than charming. Happy to see you have stocked up on good snacks which is essential for any weather event. It is good that you rounded up all the chickens since they might become airborne in a strong gust if wind. Stay safe and I hope Sandy will leave you unscathed.

We're watching the news - it sure looks terrible. I'm glad your warm and safe.

Glad that all is well so far - it looks pretty bad further south judging from the TV reports. Stay safe.

Thinking of you, and hope Sandy does not live up to original expectations. Good idea about giving a pumpkin to the chickens. Will remember that idea for the future. This year it is not do-able as our pumpkins did not grow beyond the size of a tennis ball!

Glad to hear you are safe and sound. Hope you still are this a.m. Did you lose power? It doesn't sound like you are alone if you did. I hope you remain safe and dry and warm.
