WINTER IN MAINE~

With Christmas came the snow...a fluffy blanket of white...the Christmas tree now dismantled and placed outdoors for our feathered friends to enjoy...precious ornaments  safely tucked away...but the Christmas spirit remains alive here at Dog Trot Farm...
This morning Mr. Dog Trot and I ventured out into our woods on snowshoes...the wood dressed in it's winter white finest... not a sound to be heard...but evidence remained from early morning visitors...deer  tracks...small and large...zigzagged our trail...once into the clearing the snow began again and  continues as I type...Last evening... with the moon shining brightly...I donned my headlamp and enjoyed a nighttime stroll to the lower field...the moon cast a shine on the new fallen snow...it was magical...Tasha Tudor magical...
With the new year fast approaching it is time once again to contemplate one's "New Year resolutions." Out with the old and in with the new. Typically... mine reads, lose weight, exercise more, get into shape...organize and make a valiant attempt to complete unfinished craft projects...how I detest the binding of a rug...2013...I resolve to let the chips fall where they may...no stressing over resolutions...take each day that the good Lord has given me and use it to it's fulliest...Amen...

Julie, your place looks magical indeed.
I love your new years resolution to let the chips fall where they may. All you can do is your best and that is enough.

I enjoy reading your blog and the way you write.
Thanks for being a faithful blogger friend.

Wishing you a Joyous and Healthy New Year and may God Bless you and your family.
Hugs,
JB

You know I don't like snow, but that does look pretty. I might need your snowshoes tomorrow. Over a foot snow arriving in the next 12 hours :(

Well my resolutions are the same as yours!!! I did conquer my fear of binding rugs. I hate it too and I watched the little tutorial that Ginger has on her blog Primitives by the Light of the moon. It was so good that I just watched that and now I am not so afraid. I do like how those rugs look once the edge is done.
I think your photos look wonderful. I wish I could come and snowshoe with you. :) I have to loose weight this year. Have a wonderful weekend.

we are still sitting here in the glow of the christmas tree. It seems so dark and dull when it is taken down but I guess we must at some point. we drove from maine to NH tonight oh what a wild ride we are safe and home and so glad of our safe travel.

The photo is wonderful! I have never worn snow shoes, I would probably fall flat on my face! But i could picture your walk in the telling! Thanks for sharing that! I never make resolutions, I would keep none of them, but if I did, I could use your list, and maybe triple it!
Happy New Year Mrs. D. T.! and to your MR. D. T., and W. H., and T. L., of course!

The snow pictures are lovely - I love to see places under freshly fallen snow. We haven't had any snow here so far and it's showing evry sign of being a mild, wet winter.
As for resolutions - I gave up making them years ago. Now I just make a short list of practical things I'd like to get done during the coming year.

There's no snow in my neck of the woods here in CA, but I love your snowy scene.

Julie ~
Your resolutions sound just like mine, especially the losing weight part and the rug binding. I bet I have 6 rugs waiting to be "finished".
Your snow is beautiful. We've gotten about 6" which is about 5.99" more than I'd like.
Happy New Year.
Hugs :)

Love the new year resolution thought. Agree!
MAybe if we just accept the weight will leave and exercise will become a fun part of our days.
Added some snowshoe prints.

I am not going to call it a New Year resolution this year...I am calling it goal setting and I am already starting by going through a lot of stuff that is just taking up space and listing on ebay or boxing up for Garage sale this March or April..big plans and will also be taking one day at a time..maybe it will even give me something to blog about :) I sincerely hope all of us have a good 2013 in spite of the economy

I have been busy online looking for snowshoes. We have never tried snowshoeing but love the idea of spending time in the quiet of the woods.
