ONE STEP FORWARD~

As night falls so does the temperature...
I have spent the majority of last week flat smack on the living room couch...I fear a permanent indent remains...This virus is one where "one step forward and two back" applies...only rising to let Winslow Homer in and out...dare I say the television kept me company...Oh the things I have learned...Snooki delivered a baby boy named Lorenzo who's father feared when his son nursed the breast milk  would be chocolate milk, due to the fact that Snooki consumed too much chocolate...backwoods mountain moonshiners have their own television show, as well as people who attempt to catch  catfish by wrestling them in the muddy water, you have Preppers readying themselves for doomsday, TAPS  investigating paranormal activity...Sister Wives allows us into the world of polygamy...I admit here and now I watched a few minutes of each...you can get sucked in if you're not careful...honestly, I shake my head and wonder who the audience is that watches these programs...Tomorrow... thank the good Lord I am back in the world of Elmo...but sadly... even Elmo now has issues...what has become of our world...it makes me feel very sad...lost is the innocence of childhood...So...   I have had few ventures out into the world since coming down with the flu...Mr. Dog Trot escorted me to Walmart yesterday (the chickens were in need of collard greens and kale) and Tractor Supply for a seed block...during the winter months it is not unusual for hens to slow or even stop their egg production,  my girls have continued to lay quite nicely... seven to eight eggs daily...I believe in TLC and reap it's rewards...So there you have it my week in words...and may I offer a bit of advice...get yourself a flock of chicken and unplug that TV...stay well friends...

Hi Julie,
I am with you 100% on the shows on TV these days! So sad that it reflects the world we live in or is it the other way around! I think the flock of chickens is a good answer and I'm sure they provide all the good entertainment one could want! Glad you are feeling better and are making it through these cold wintery days!
Big hugs and warm wishes from your friend in WI!

oh my, been there with the sickness, took a week to get back to normal. It is so true about TV, NOTHING to watch basically. Sometimes when my husband and I are by ourselves and I have flipped through all the channels, I will tell him "Dora's on", or "Bubble Guppies on", lol, sometimes I think I would rather watch the kids show's....well it is a bit more fun when they are here, lol.....have a good day!

No flu in our household, knock on wood. No room here for chickens, but a dog will soon be fostered while awaiting adoption. I'd love to have a few freshly laid eggs for my breakfast.

Hi Julie. I sure hope you feel better soon. That virus was going around our parts too. Thankfully I didn't get it, but everyone I know had it. My hens have slowed down a little in their laying, but no too much. We enjoyed omelets today.
Take care and get better soon.

I have also been living on the couch a lot lately..my life has just been 2 depressing for me to do much besides list on ebay (to build up my moving fund) and packing and praying the whole time that I find a home to take it all to along with my furbabies. I am very ready for spring and hope to have a moving sale on Feb 22nd (weather permitting) Have a good week..Hugs

At least you made it out of the house. I need to get something as my hens are just not laying at all. Don't you just love tractor supply? My favorite store.
I had no idea that stuff comes on TV so glad we never got an adapter to change what was it to digital? I always get them mixed up. :) I hope your week this week is so much better than last week.
I am glad you gave us an update.

so glad you are doing better, poor Elmo, even he has succumbed to the new style(?) hope you enjoy your week, it seems like I started early on with your egg count, had not realized the count has gone as high as it has, although I always look. take care, and Godspeed Julie, many blessings!

TV is ridiculous isn't it. I'm a food network watcher as well as HBO. I hope to have chickens in late spring. I'll be asking lots of questions to all you chickenkeepers out there.

Those snow people are precious and also crack me up! I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I would chuck every one of our TVs out our third floor window if it wouldn't make CH cry! I watch one show on Bravo, Flipping Out. Enjoy your Monday Julie!

I totally agree with you on the offerings of TV. You didn't mention Honey Boo Boo. Now there's one that should never have been made. I absolutely love Northwoods Law which features our very own Game Wardens some of who I know.
Glad to hear you're up and about once again. So did you get the flu vaccine?

You poor thing! Hoping this week finds you feeling much better. I agree on the t.v. shows - just terrible! We're pretty selective on what we watch, especially if the grandchildren are here. Stay warm and feel better, Dawn

No fun being sick and the last time I was home I found that daytime tv was surely not for me..With all of these reality shows out there, I am sure the real actors have lost jobs. Take care, Janice

Sorry to hear the bug still has you down. I am not a pill taker but I have been popping Vitamin C for weeks. So far, so good.
I am one of those strange people who has not had a working TV for several years and even when it worked, I never turned it on. I know I'm not missing much!
Healing hugs to you, dear friend :)

I love your humour Julie! (-: Keep your pecker up (as we say in England). I thought it was an appropriate saying what with your chickens an all! (-: I hope you don't have to find out tooooooo much more from daytime telly! xx

Hi Julie - So sorry you've been so sick. I'm still knocking on wood around here... I hope you're on the mend by now.

Yes, we are definitely hurting for something to put on TV these days. I don't know who sits around and thinks up these kooky shows. Honey Boo Boo just about makes me puke. That child doesn't have a snowball's chance in heck to grow up like a normal kid. It's just crazy...

Hey, take care of yourself and get better! Vickie

Hi Julie. Get as much rest as you can and keep drinking those liquids. I have to give you lots of credit for sure. I watch very little tv and I don't think I watch any daytime shows at all. You must be one tough cookie girlfriend! LOL. Just get better soon.

I'm so sorry to read that you've had the dreaded bug. I hope that you are, by now, feeling much better. I'm working on the mainland and in a hotel every evening. I cannot believe the dross on TV. It's like watching a train wreck - there is actually a show about some awful women - it's called Plastic Wives. Too, too horrid.
You're so right - hens are a very good distraction!

Unplug the TV indeed. I find when I am sick listening to all that "crap" on TV makes me feel worse! Snuggle with WH and rest rest rest.

If it weren't for the cooking shows and old movies, we'd be watchin' nothing. Such garbage...well, you know!!!
