Love the photo of Travis:) Your Maine winters would be fine with me, it's the grey,dark, wet miserable weather that is often our lot in the UK that can take a bit of getting through.

I live in Minnesota so I'm with you on how to survive cold. My favorite activities are dog sledding, X country skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing; and breathing in the brisk air. I absolutely love the light in the winter and how it reflects off the snow during dusk, and how the snow changes from bright white to lavender; I'm originally from Mass. and have lived in MN for over 20 years. I have learned to live in the subzero and like it. But you are right the key to surviving and liking extreme cold weather is to take up a winter sport. It keeps your head clear.
