~DEAR FRIENDS~

Dear friends...I fear my Sadie Mae will not be returning home...it has now been two weeks since her disappearance... after much searching... inquiries...and a visit to the local animal shelter...we still come up empty handed...
I want to thank you, my blog readers, for your kind comments and concern...Sadie Mae was a very sweet two year old  kitty...petite in size... an independent kitty, one with a mind of her own...initially my intent was for Sadie to remain an indoor cat...however...it simply was not meant to be...Sadie had been found as a stray from a neighboring town... living outdoors and fending for herself was her way of life...Soon after I adopted Sadie she discovered my flock of chickens and it was clear she liked what  she  saw and enjoyed hanging out with them... daily she could be found curled up asleep next to the chicken coop...drinking from their water container and eating  chicken feed...perhaps in another life she might actually have been a chicken for one day I discovered her happily tucked in a nesting box...Oh Sadie Mae we will miss you...our hearts are heavy here at Dog Trot Farm...

I am sorry to hear that she has not come home. Sometimes kitties are too independent to keep them in and I hope that she is just out on an adventure and will come back someday.

So sorry Julie, but please don't lose hope yet. I have had cats disappear for a lot longer periods and come back as if nothing happened. I am hoping for her safe return.

Please don't loose hope for sweet Sadie. Cats are funny people....you think you know them oh so well but, never fully. My brother in laws kitty would go away for weeks at a time and reappear like she had never left. Perhaps Sadie is curled up in a neighboring chicken coop contemplating when she will return to you. :)

I am so sorry, but you do have to move on or you will drive yourself crazy. I know how I don't sleep when one of mine fails to come home.
She sounds like a very nice kitty.

Very sad... I remember your attempt to make her a housecat. Clearly she had other ideas. I'll admit, the situation does not look good but don't completely give up hope that she will return to you.

So sad for you...I generally feel worse due to the loss of an animal m ore than I do the loss of a human..??Something wrong with me??

I am so sorry :-( Maybe she will still return home.. I had a kitty that I got that was a stray and she was the same way.. She would come in for a little but just really preferred to be outside.. She would go on little "adventures" for about 3 weeks at a time and eventually wander home.. That was just her nature.. I really hope she will return home soon! Lots of Hugs to you, Melissa

If Sadie Mae is still running free, she can survive on little mice and and may return unannounced one day.... I just hope... but you know your area better than anyone of us. You may be right.
Bigs sad hugs,

Oh Julie, I feel so bad for you. Maybe there's a possibility that she was taken in at a new home. Let's hope for the best. Sure wish you could come to our blog gathering on September 7th after our Harvest At The Mill show. So many gals are coming and it should be so much fun!

It is so hard to lose a pet. we adopted Sadie or I should say she adopted us 20 years ago she was a kitten but had been dumped on a dirt road. We did let her out all these years but figured she had a good thing and stayed with in our yard and was never out at night.
She now is so old she is stuck inside.to afraid she would try to crawl away to die and spare us.
so we keep her in all comfy and she rarely asks to go out.
keeping your kitty in my thoughts.

Aw, I'm so sorry about your sweet little kitty, Sadie. I had two of my kitties that disappeared, sadly - I'm afraid they became prey to coyotes around here. Sadie sounded like such great cat! I hope she'll surprise you!

So sorry Julie. Wish she had come home.

Oh, I am so sorry. About 20 years ago, our little Camille went away and we never saw her again. I still miss her. I hope your Sadie Mae makes her way back to you, hale and hearty.

Of course, it is important to move forward, but we did have a cat return after being gone for several months. He was Siamese. We didn't ask any questions either. We simply allowed him to pick up where he left off. It isn't easy not knowing...

So very sorry to hear your sweet Sadie Mae has not returned home :( Our Maynard kitty disappeared during one of our late Spring snowstorms. I truly believe he just "moved on." Coincidentally(?) he had been scheduled for neutering, along w/ our other (then) unneutered male barn kitty. I think somebody ratted me out ;) Prayers that your Sadie Mae is safe and happy somewhere ♥ -Tammy
