~DECEMBER?~

December twelfth, really? Where is the cold... snowy... winter like weather that typically has hit the northeast by now...I'm not complaining mind you...but with daytime temperatures hovering around sixty degrees... the lack of snow... with my day lilies poking through the soil...it feels odd...something feels amiss ...spending long days in the hospital can make one feel like being in the twilight zone...adrift...
so...for mental therapy I hook...and snowmen seem to have my focus...
with a bit of luck one of these mats will be on it's way to Bakersfield, Ca. soon...
My dad is doing better, becoming stronger...He was diagnosed with a rare strain of C-Diff...in his blood stream and urinary tract...his heart was in a-fib and his blood pressure had dropped dangerously low...I think we have turned the corner and are so grateful to the wonderful staff at Maine Medical Center and to my blogging friends for your healing thoughts and prayers...Thank you...

Hooking is relaxing and a great way to destress.
I am happy to hear that your dad is doing better and prayers that he recovers and can enjoy Christmas with the family.

Hope your dad is much better now! Scary
We had 63 degrees here today too and it does feel strange this time of year. it comes to an end on Tuesday with much colder temps.
Love your snowmen
****Merry Christmas****

Hi Julie,
I've been so lax at commenting lately on blogs! I wanted to let you know I've been keeping your dear Dad in thought and prayer! So glad he is doing better! It's very stressful when our parents are sick especially when they've been so healthy all their lives. I think our medical system with all it's faults, has really great people who work within and are so dedicated to making people well! My nephew is an R.N. and works trauma and emergency in a huge hospital in Fargo ND. He is an excellent nurse!
Love your snowmen rugs! They're the closest thing to snow we've seen here too! What a weird December! I don't remember ever seeing it rain this close to Christmas! The wood pile hasn't been touched... a good thing I guess!
Hope your Dad continues to get well! Keep on hooking for the healing benefits to yourself as well!
Hugs and prayers!

Julie, sending prayers for your dad from NC. It's been unseasonably warm everywhere on the east coast. Can you believe it was 80 here today? I love cold weather so I'm hoping there is some snow in store for us before too long. Your snowmen are so pretty! I'd like to try hooking. Do you know of any kits available that are already marked on the canvas?

It is great news to hear your Dad's condition is improving. I had C-Diff. a few years ago & it is an awful illness to endure. Hopefully, now that your Dad has a diagnosis & is getting the infection treated, he will soon be out of danger & on the road to recovery at home. Those long hours waiting in the hospital can leave you feeling disoriented & out of sink. At least you have those adorable snowman to work on while you are there. I hope they help the time there pass quickly.

Your high temps. do seem just plain wrong. In the Pacific NW we are still dealing with severe flooding from all the rain this past week. More than 3 inches on some days has caused widespread flooding & road closures. Lots of snow in the mountains. Will these odd weather changes the "New normal" just a series of flukes? I am most concerned about the negative impact of the birds & animals who are disappearing because of lost habitat and no prey as a result of weather changes.

So very pleased to hear your dad is getting stronger. That is an awful thing to deal with. I love your snowmen and it is soothing to hook when stressed.

Dear Julie, I'm keeping your dad in my prayers. That C-Difficile is so scary. I hope and pray for complete recovery.
Hooking is such a great therapy and your little snowmen are very sweet. We are having warm weather but with freezing rain in the forecast for Tuesday.

Take care and hang in there.
Hugs,

I love your snowmen.
I'm not complaining about warmer weather, it's so much better than last February's 6 feet snow that lasted 6 weeks.
Hoping things continue to improve there, bless you all.
