Here is my handsome boy Winslow-Homer, newly "fresh" from an at home "spa treatment". Winslow is a Cairn Terrier and believes he is a big dog in a little dog's body. He has a mind of his own and grooming is not always a positive experience. (Winslow is "the" dog that has the red check mark by his name, earned for his naughty behavior at the groomers.). So now, instead of stressing about his behavior, I do it myself. Today I pulled the garden hose out to warm in the sun, brushed out his puckers, gave him a haircut and bathed him. Once dry, a second brushing. "Oh Winslow not only do you look good, but smell like" lavender in summertime". How short lived that was. I had no more put things away when I discovered he was covered in puckers once again. Those nasty little green things that stick like glue.
And of course to top it off he just had to roll in chicken poop. I think Gladys and the girls were secretly laughing at me.

Oh, I so recall those days... Fortunately our Fishy wasn't a roller, but he never stayed clean long.
Have you seen the fox again? They are beautiful, and really help keep the small rodent population down, which in turn helps keep the ticks in check, but I worry about their taste for fresh young hen. We have seen fox in our area, and I do worry about the girls. If only the fox would stick to a diet of tender young groundhogs, rabbits, raccoons and rodents!
Any signs of eggs yet? Our Black Stars should start laying any day, I can hardly wait!
Winslow Homer...you remind me of your cousin Daisy Lu!!!
silly winslow loves to get dirty! yuck, rolling in chicken poo...i know my dogs would do the same thing and then eat it! they eat deer poo and sometimes puke it up! dogs can be so gross but i still love my babies! ;)
AW! What a cutie! Obviously didn't like the smell of 'lavender in summertime'! (-: Our Poppy cat is always coming in with grass seeds in her fur. I don't know where she's been, cos we don't have any grass in our garden anymore!
What a great post! I'm laughing as I sit here all by myself. My daughter is in the other room wondering what could possibly be so funny when I'm alone. :)
Thanks for a good laugh!
Poor little Winslow-Homer. He's just too cute!
He is just so cute! And you do the grooming! I really need to learn to do the whole grooming thing on Fuzzy Doodle.

Winslow is adorable even covered in puckers (never heard that name before) and chicken poo. Winslow reminded me of my dog Waldo. He was a small dog but he would jump over the fence in the backyard and always come home with dog poop all over his neck. My sister and I would run screaming, "Mom, Waldo rolled in dog poop again"!
Oh my gosh, that last photo is hilarious! Love it!! Winslow, you are SUCH a handsome boy...even with puckers and chicken poop!
And, sigh, I know "the fur" well... Roxy, being half Cairn, mixed then with Shih Tzu, gives her such tangly, knot-prone fur, she HATES being groomed.
And hey, at least Winslow only wants to roll in it... :-)
What an adorable dog!
In short, it was a great day to be a dog! LOL!
Lets just say I'm hanging out with the "girls" while Winslow is being worked on by his daddy!
I know you probably don't appreciate this at all but this has me laughing beyond control. Winslow looks so handsome in the first photo and then a whole lot of puckers and chicken poop later and holy smokes doggie! Oh my gosh, I am sorry but that pup is too too funny and the pictures are priceless!!
