MY PERFECT DAY

Friday morning I came downstairs to discover beautiful yellow roses in celebration of my December birthday... and Tasha Tudor DVDs. I connected with a kindred spirit when I discovered Mrs. Tudor
and her world within Corgi Cottage. My DH took the day off from work we went out to lunch and for a drive. We passed beautiful Sebago Lake with the White Mountains of New Hampshire shining in the background. Our drive had a purpose, we were on our way to Norway Maine to the Oxford Hills Animal Shelter to visit "Pinky" As many of you may recall Pinky was the kitty that just could not get along with Emma Lou and with a broken heart I returned her to the shelter. It was and still is the right thing to have done. For the past few months I had been collecting gifts for all the kitties at the shelter (this is a cat only shelter). We brought beds, blankets, toys, litter boxes and food. The shelter was so pleased to receive our gifts along with a small monetary donation. The shelter attendant distributed the toys and beds and I visited with Pinky. It just made us feel so good to be able to give them this small donation on my special day. On Saturday we visited the Maine State Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals and donated money in order for them to purchase hay for the horses. It was a wonderful birthday weekend, celebrated just perfectly.Darkness came early this evening here at Dog Trot Farm
However, being able to witness the most beautiful sunsets makes it all worth while. Blessings.

Belated Happy Birthday, that was a nice way to spend your special day. The sunset photos are really beautiful, I'd love to see Maine and New Hampshire in snowy winter weather. I have those two Tasha Tudor DVDs as well, I must watch the Christmas one this week. She was a real inspiration, I discovered her via a book I bought at Williamsburg several years ago. I would love to have all the skills she possessed.

Julie, your visit to Pinky and the goodies to the Animal Shelter, the visit to the Maine State Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for the horses-I love ya! Like Eve said "you done good". I have a sweet spot in my heart for you and your hubby. And I already wished you a Happy Birthday in the last post but two Happy Merry Birthday Wishes are better than one and this birthday day deserved two SO Happy Birthday Julie!

Happy Birthday Julie! What a great way to spend your b'day! I'm sure the various beasties appreciated it too! Glad you got to visit with Pinky too. Hope you're coping ok with the weather over there! Over here, we get a couple of inches of snow and cold weather and the country grinds to a halt!!!

What a beautiful soul you are. I'm glad Pinky was still there so you could see her again. I'm also glad your old kitty is not stressed out.

Happy Birthday. I so happy I have found you, Dear Friend.

Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a nice day.
My son's 1st grade class collected bottles for the horses, and they were able to buy over a 110 bales of hay. I'm so glad you were able to donate too.

Merry Christmas!

Tiff

Hi Julie,

Belated Happy Birthday, and best Christmas wishes for you -- I hope you enjoyed a lovely holiday.

I've been pondering since I read this post, about what more I can do for the poor critters in the various animal shelters. I donate, give old bedding towels, etc., and I did get a volunteer program going at work, organizing students to volunteer to walk dogs and socialize the animals at the local shelter. This has been a big success. I loved that you brought toys and treats to the kitties. I realized one thing I can easily do is grow more catnip and make simple kitty toys for the holidays. So that is my plan for the summer -- thanks for the inspiration!
