DEAR MOTHER NATURE...

Dear Mother Nature... I do believe it is the month of October...the month which I have longed for...you know the one where we gather pumpkins and gourds...take our sweaters out of storage and anticipate hayrides followed by a mug of hot mulled cider...it is not the month for lemonade...shorts and tee shirts.

October...the month were we don hiking boots and enjoy early morning walks...finding the trail now covered with a bed of newly fallen leaves...it is not the month for flip flops...October... where vibrant hardy Mums fill greenhouses...

soon finding their way into yards everywhere...October...is the month for bittersweet...and cornstalks...chestnuts and acorns...stacking fire wood...it is not the month for air conditioning and suntan lotion...

So...Mother Nature if you would please send the October that I have been longing for...Thank you...Julie of Dog Trot Farm...

This is a crazy fall isn't it? We were finally in the 70's today after being in the 80's for a week. We got some rain today after 21 days of nothing. Soon we'll be shivering in our boots ;)

Well put Julie, We are having a heat wave here at the moment. We had frost a few days ago and yesterday we broke a record heat temperature.

All together now. MOTHER NATURE PLEASE SEND US THE OLD OCTOBER WE USED TO KNOW, PRETTY PLEASE...

Hahaha, I'm with you, I want October weather. I put all the summer clothes away today, except for the t shirt and capri's I was wearing :)

I had to laugh, I've been singing the same tune. I want to wear warm socks and bake an apple pie. Still wearing shorts and slapping at flies and mosquitoes on my way out to the barn in the morning. The poor horses are sweating in their winter coats.Fall has to come soon, doesn't it?

I am rather enjoying the summer weather. Sorry.

We went from summer to winter in one day. We had 2 inches of snow last Friday. I would like the October you described and not the one we have now.

I spoke to my son in Ontario today and it was hot, hot, hot in Kingston too. Out here on the west coast is was cold and rainy - some things don't change! I'm glad we went out driving on the one sunny day.

Amen Julie, I love the Fall also and so far we have had a very beautiful and unseasonably warm Autumn here! I am not complaining one little bit after all the darned rain we had for months.
Finally now it is all coming together perfectly and there is joy in my valley!
Have a wonderful Fall day Julie!

WE've been having the same kind of October here until the weekend since when it has become cooler and never stopped raining. It was also the weekend when I had my entire family here including four small grandchildren aged 5, 4, 3, and 2 - I could have used a couple of dry, sunny days!
Your description of the perfect October and the photos that go with it is inspiring, it's my favourite time of year anyway but reading that made it even more so,

What beautiful pictures. I do miss a gorgeous fall day. It's just not fallish here in Arizona, even tho I put out a wreath and pumpkin. :-(

Your photos are beautiful! I think it will be a while longer before mother nature gives us the October I long for but I will welcome it when she is ready to give it to us.
