THE SOUNDS OF HOME~

As I lie in bed...
the wind howls and the house shakes...upon waking at dawn I notice  the shadow of tree limbs dancing across my bedroom wall...Don Juan and Ramon... my two roosters... announce the new day...a reminder for me to get out of bed...but not this day...Mr. Dog Trot...God bless him... is on duty. While lying in bed it is interesting to note the familiar sounds of one's home which you routinely ignore and take for granted...I hear Winslow Homer snoring happily asleep in front of the wood stove...I stare at an ant walking across the bedroom floor...Sadie Mae flies up and down the stairs... I instantly realize she has been into the catnip...Mr. Dog Trot cracks freshly gathered eggs for his morning breakfast...  I hear a click...knowing he has remembered to turn off  the kitchen stove burner... sleigh bells hung on the backdoor will  jingle as Mr. Dog Trot goes about his day...I rest...nap...dream...I dream of a brick walkway...one of which leads from  the front door of the homestead to the stone wall...something I have envisioned for quite some time...perhaps this dream will come true...Mr. Dog Trot wants me well...due to the fact that me lying in bed day dreaming is just adding to "our" "to do" list...and costing him money...but I receive a bouquet of tulips and an "I hate when you get sick" anyway...Soon it will be time for football...time for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots...I will be put on the back burner...I don't mind, I can daydream some more...GO PATS...

Heal soon. "I hate when you get sick."

That catnip does have some strange powers.

I hope you are better soon, I'm just getting better after a four week battle with the Grinch Flu, I got sick the week befor Christmas so it pretty much stole the Holidays but I'm so glad to be done with it. Drink lots of fluids and rest, my Dr. said rest is the best treatment. I'd had the flu shot three weeks before I got sick?? Anyway please take care and be well soon. Now I wish I could take a nap!
Blessings,
Sallie

Julie, I hope that you feel better soon. I wasn't sick but I was wishing I could have stayed in bed too this morning.
Nothing wrong with daydreaming once in a while.
Everything seems right at Dog Trot Farm with Mr Dog Trot at the helm.
Hugs.

How lucky you are to live in beautiful Maine! I love the names of your animals and I can't wait to read more of your blog. I know exactly what you mean about dreaming big and a "to do" list. My "list" always conflicts with us wanting to save more money...lol.
I hope you get well soon....:)

Awww Julie it's no fun being sick I know. I had what you have in December. I missed FOOD and breathing without my mouth open. Chapped lips were awful. Glad Mr. Dog Trot is there. Take care and keep dreaming.. :)

So sorry that you have the flu! Let's hope you are soon well again but you'll need to go steady when you do get up. I've had flu three times in my life and it takes a fortnight in bed and another fortnight to get back to normal again if it's the real thing. Get well soon - and if you do ever get that villa in Tuscany I hope you'll invite me for a visit:)

Julie, hope you're well soon. How sweet of Mr. Dog Trot to bring you tulips! They're one of my favorites. Listening to the quiet and familiar sounds of home, I can't think of anything more comforting.
