October, the magical month... brilliant colors in shades of orange, red, and yellow paint the landscape...
It is harvest time...farmers gather their crops... corn fields are chopped, pumpkins gathered, apple trees hang heavy with fruit..."we" drive back roads seeking red berries and bittersweet for window boxes ...hydrangea blossoms are hung indoors...
old friends are brought down from the attic...
days are warm...evenings cool...
the cricket's song is no more...in the darkness of the night the faint hoot of the Barred owl can be heard...
such is life in the country...
beauty surrounds us...we give thanks...
soon I am reminded...at some point... all these beauties will have to be raked...

Before the raking, I hope there will be lots of tromping through the leaves, kicking them up, preferable in the company of a wee grandson!

It's a wonderful time of the year - I hope I shall manage at least one more Fall in New England. This year it's going to be the Deep South though so no idea whether we shall see Fall colours there or not. As for leaves - happily I have a gardener to do it for me - he does lawns,hedges and all the boring jobs and I look after the flower beds:)

Hahaha, It was all flowing so beautifully - so pretty and picturesque and then you had to bring up the rake!! Lol
we've been listening to our barred & saw whet owls in our back woods....the woods are deep and in a hollow so their voices are hauntingly beautiful this time of year!
