~CHRISTMAS AT THE WALKER HOMESTEAD~

The Walker Homestead...
The Walker Homestead is an ancient old house, located off the beaten path in Brookfield, Mass.  It's owner's are dedicated to creating an 18th century experience while offering primitive wares and antiques...
The homestead, is a typical old New England home, it's rooms small with low ceilings...the Homestead was decorated simply for it's Christmas open house with fresh greens, berries, dried fruit swags, candles...and the presence of Father Christmas...I enjoyed touring the old house with it's wide pine floors and large fireplace...I was however, disappointed in the open house...it was a three hour drive from Maine to Brookfield, our visit lasted perhaps twenty minutes...
I did however, enjoy meeting the peafowl...I may not have purchased anything...but I did come home with an idea if you will...
I think a pair of peafowl would look pretty darn good here at Dog Trot Farm...what do you think?

The house sounds lovely. It's too bad you had to drive so far for a 20 minute visit. Peacocks at Dog Trot....? Interesting thought Julie :)

Oh, I'm sorry the experience wasn't better, but I do hope it was a good day for a drive.
Were the peacocks noisy? I was surprised at the sounds they make.
Hugs :)

I am always amazed at some of the places we find peafowl, since more than once I've seen them wandering around on country properties. I love how that happy pair seemed to "pose" for you!

Whenever I get a few acres I would do just that! I say go for it!

Well maybe your trip was the catalyst for the idea to get a pair of peacocks for your Dog Trot Farm. Just imagine having such a beautiful bird as a peacock.
keep that idea alive.

I think it would be great. I have wanted them a long time but finding them has been so hard. I think they would look so pretty walking around your place.

Peafowl, hmm need to think about that one. I think maybe a duck or two, lol. Sorry that your trip only lasted 20 minutes, it would not be to my liking if that happened to me.

*****we agree with your assessment of the open house, but did you not go to the other places in the area while out in the brookfield/sturbridge area?
primitive thymes in spencer and ye olde mercantile in west brookfield would have helped in such a long trip. we live on bailey island...so it's a good trip for us too!

Julie, I would love to have the opportunity to see a home like that, but I would want to stay there a lot longer than 15 minutes too. We used to have neighbors that had peacocks. Their 'howl' is rather mournful sounding, but they are beautiful..Hope you have a wonderful holiday..Judy

Lucky you to have visited that home!! I want peacocks too! I know I'll never have them since I don't live on a farm.

Happy Thanksgiving!
