~I AM THANKFUL~

~HAPPY THANKSGIVING~
We rejoice and give thanks for the many blessings we have received here at Dog Trot Farm.
For health and happiness...
For a warm and cozy house that we call home...
Food for our belly...
The gift of a grandson who  keeps his granny's days filled with much joy and happiness...so much so that by end of the day I forget my own name...
For Winslow Homer...the little dog who puts the "Trot" in Dog Trot Farm...our boy celebrated his fourteenth birthday last week...we are grateful for each and everyday that he remains in our lives...
Lastly, we are thankful for our chickens, even though they have gone on winter hiatus and we have received no eggs in recent memory...
For two felines, Mrs. Tweedy and Birdy Mae...who both continue to claw the furniture and urinate in places I shall not mention...
For a husband, who at this very moment is making the Thanksgiving gravy...
and finally, I am so very grateful that we have not lost our electricity...the above photo is the winter wonderland we woke to this morning...and so it begins all over again...
BLESSINGS TO ALL!

Your little Homer is 14 now... so is my Maddie. Everyday is a blessing.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and I see you had plenty of snow to inspire the next holiday to follow...

We all have so much to be thankful for. The farm looks so beautiful in the snow. So glad to hear you have not lost power. That is never a fun experience, especially when it is so cold where you live. Happy belated birthday to Winslow Homer. May be keep on tickin' for a long time to come. I never realized Mrs. Tweedy & Bridy Mae were doing such terrible things to your home & furniture. I have owned many cats & I have never had a female cat not use the litter box. Sometimes cats will not share a box. Have you tried giving each cat their own box in different locations? Cats can be very territorial and some won't use a shared box. They are sending a message their unhappy about something. Maybe trying a different kind of litter would worthwhile. I did find that sticky tape they sell at pet stores to be helpful in curbing the furniture being clawed, but you will have to resign yourself to looking at tape everywhere until can be lured into using a vertical/horizontal scratching post. I'm sure Travis does leave you winded & not thinking straight like any good little boy. Then they go home to their parents, we get a good night sleep & can't wait to see them again. Stay warm, enjoy your dinner & have a great Thanksgiving.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Your property looks so pretty all dusted in white. But then again, it looks pretty in all seasons :)

Happy Thanksgiving Julie, glad you did not lose power. Ours flickered on and off for two days but we are fine. Got about 6 inches here in PA. Have a great weekend.

That is a very beautiful scene. Nothing like the beauty of winter, though it can bring a bit of trouble with it. My chickens are also in hiatus, which makes me sad! lol Enjoy the weekend!

A lot to be thankful for, especially for your grandson. What joy he must bring in your life.

Lucky you didn't lost your power...

We had that big nasty storm and lost our power twice and the internet. It was so cold in the house because the guys couldn't install the stove yesterday because of the storm. I've never felt so cold.
Hugs,
JB

OMG laughed like crazy at your comment your so tired at the end of the day you forget your own name. Been there taking care of my grandkids, who are all teenagers now.
We lost our power during that high wind for a day and a half but we had a generator thank goodness.
Happy Holidays!

Hello Julie! We did lose power here for almost 4 days. I cooked most of the dinner on the woodstove and hubby grilled the chicken...come on over to my blog if you want to read my adventures on Thanksgiving and beyond. We're thankful for our mostly healthy family, too. And I'm thankful for you and your blog because it brings me a chance to just stop and enjoy and be in the moment. Blessing to you and Mr. Dogtrot and all your kith and kin and animals. ~Vonnie
