THE BEAUTY OF MAINE

The beauty of Maine is undeniable....its rugged coast colored in shades of grey, green and blue. In winter there is a certain starkness to her beauty. On this cold February morning, a strong westerly breeze blows....seagulls tip their wings to the wind....and sunlight dances on the Atlantic ocean....

" Old Glory" flaps against a sky of blue.... Majestic Portland Head Light graces the coastline of Cape Elizabeth Maine....

A stately sight to behold....we follow the gulls south....
along the coast....

to Cape Neddick where Nubble light is found....

" Steadfast, Serene, immovable, the same,
Year after year, through all the silent night
burns an forevermore, the quenchless flame,
Shines on that inextinguishable light."

~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow~
Taken from the poem "The Lighthouse"
Maine....the way life should be....

I absolutely love Maine! My husband and his entire family are from Maine, and I always look forward to our visits. My dream is to move to Maine to a small farm and just live the good life!

Your pictures are gorgeous....makes me want to get into the car and head north!

I love your light house pictures, you could do a calendar with just your pictures of them and I would buy them. You know my still favorite one would be the December with the wreath but these are just as beautiful. These are just lovely and I love them so much. You did a very nice job. You have such a good eye in that when you take pictures you take them with your heart. Thank you so much for sharing them. I love them.

And we are the 'amber waves of grain', as you are the 'sea to shining sea'.
Your pictures are lovely and I would love to visit in the autumn, as I've heard it is beautiful in fall color, but, for me, Iowa is the way life should be. I am happy we are both able to and happy to love our own homes.

Love the pictures, especially the one of the ocean. Looks cold though.

I love Maine, a drive up to Nubble Light is always on the agenda when I visit my friend in NH - closely followed by a stop in York to buy saltwater taffy:) I've only once been Down East but I would love to go back and spend time exploring Acadia National Park. The coastal scenery of Maine is always lovely but in many places it's absolutely stunning.

I forgot to answer your query about my next adventure, in two weeks time I'm off to South Africa to visit my elder son. Should be one or two photo opportunities there I think:)

I agree, Maine is beautiful. You are very fortunate to live there. I enjoyed a tour of quite a few of the lighthouses this summer from my friend Mary (ocean breezes and country sneezes) and her husband. Your photos are stunning!!

Maine looks so much like my native Nova Scotia and makes me miss it!
Gorgeous photos - I could feel the wind and hear the snap of the flag and screech of the gulls.
