COLD NOVEMBER DAYS...

Ah, November... your days have become down right cold...I dare say my hope of an Indian summer...sadly... has been laid to rest...
...I  concede and let go of my hold onto Fall...  the sights and sounds of the Christmas season have arrived...Christmas trees shine with their twinkling white lights, holiday music fills the air... today Santa Claus arrived at the Maine Mall...yes, I went to the mall on a Saturday...call me crazy...to purchase a snowsuit for Travis...a snowsuit at a fifty percent discount...yippee...I found the snowsuit, however, no size 12 months...so, home I return and on line I go...will I ever learn...
Back on the home front days begin early. Travis' dad is still in New York, one of many utility workers from around the country helping to get the power back on. Both sets of grandparents help out anyway we can...oh, how the warmth from the wood stove is most welcoming...Travis and I watch the squirrels empty the bird feeder before the chickadees have even awakened...
Sadie Mae enjoys the warmth from her favorite chair...
Travis sees snow for the first time...we "bundle up" and get our early morning walk in...we bake in the morning and in the afternoon we read...
"No David" is a favorite children's book of mine...
and I think it will be one of Travis's too...
Goodnight from Maine...

Oh , your place looks so pretty with a fresh fallen snow, just like a christmas card.

Those little squirrels are smart and were stealing the bird's seeds to so I fed the squirrels right on the ground.

What a handsome little guy that Travis. He will love that book I'm sure.

I hope that the good guys can get the power back on the grid soon for those poor folks without power. It's so cold early this year.

I hope that David is feeling better today.

Hugs, JB

Yes, hopes of Indian summer have left here too. Frosty mornings but luckily, no snow yet. But I did put my winter tires on yesterday, just in case. Travis has a nice little blush on his cheeks.

Evening Julie, snowy cold November, yes, the woodstove invites us in to stay cozy warm, cute little Travis with his rosey cheeks, sweet Sadie Mae all curled up.....We are in a winter storm watch this evening, the ground is white, the snow falling, wonder what the morning will bring??? Throw another log on the fire, keep toasty warm, Blessings Francine.

I am grateful to Travis' Dad for representing us here in Maine. And I'm sorry that part of the sacrifice must be borne by Travis. Little ones have no idea how brave they are!
Yes, the snow was a bit of a shock after the warm days we've been having. I had to give in this week and program the thermostats to get some heat in here.
I look forward to reading to my grandchildren (when I get some!). I have saved so many of my boys' books (practically all of them!). And so many of them are favorites.
When my boys were little, on the day of the first snow, after they had exhausted themselves playing in it and had cool rosy cheek and their clothes were wet, I'd put warm clothes on them and make hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows and put in the videotape (remember those?) "The Snowman", which is all animation and music. The whole story unfolds with no dialogue or narration. It was so peaceful.

Love the pumpkin with snow on it.The squirrels are always first in line at my feeders too!
Hope you get a snowsuit for Travis - he'll be needing it where you live:)

It just looks so cozy and warm and how always in my mind November should look. Travis is such a sweetie. I know I feel the same way after I have spent hours looking for something and then finally admit defeat and go buy it online. I just gave in the the Christmas stuff and have decided to just get over it. I love it when the kids get so excited about the Christmas trees.
I hope you have a lovely fall day today around your wood stove. I am finally getting to use ours. It is finally cool enough.

I used to read "No, David" to my boys all the time until...they could start talking and everything became...NO! Mommy! when I needed them to do anything...so I stopped reading "No, David!"...things are looking homey there for sure! Blessings to your son for helping out in NY, they sure do need him. ~Vonnie

Hi Julie - Your little Travis is so cute in his little blue snowsuit. He's a doll! We enjoyed our trip through New England. We stayed in Portland for a night and traveled up to Naples and met Vee at A Haven for Vee and her husband. So fun to meet them. Then we headed west into the White Mtns of New Hampshire, on down through Vermont. On to Mystic, CT and to Cape Cod, Nantucket and back to Boston. Just made a big circle. Were we near you? Wish I'd met up with you, too!

We were getting some good Indian Summer last week on up into the mid-80's. This week will be somewhat cooler. Can't imagine having all that snow you've got. I don't think I would make a very good northern gal - I gotta have sunshine and lots of it! Have fun with your little man!
