WARM DAYS AND COOL NIGHTS

I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as Autumn sunshine by staying in the house.
So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.
~Nathaniel Hawthorne~ I do realize it is not officially Autumn yet, but my mindset is already there. The days are warm and the nights cool, darkness arrives at 7:30 and the crickets serenade us with their soothing night time song.
There is little time to be indoors, wood to stack, a house to paint, gardens to weed and produce to harvest. There is still time for berry picking with jam to be made. To me Fall is the most magical time of year, a season which never disappoints.
And yes it is true, if you listen closely you can hear the corn grow. I hope you all take advantage of these late summer days- how swiftly they do pass.

Such pretty flowers. Feels like fall is far away this week. The heat is back this weekend. But as much as I love fall, I'm not complaining.

It's definitely autumn already in UK - the leaves are starting to turn and it just feels like autumn now. It's my favourite time of the year.

My heart refuses to move forward quite yet. In a couple weeks, okay, but it's going to be in the 90's all week so to me it's still 100% summer! Okay, maybe 99%

I do love the cool nights!

your mums are just beautiful, I love the fall time too. Especially it's time for the summer folks to leave for their winter homes. I like to see them come in summer and leave in the fall. The island slowly buttons up for winter.

I love autumn too Julie. I love the colours and the smells (damp leaves) and foggy mornings. Those rusty coloured flowers are gorgeous!(Chrysanths?)

As much as I do enjoy fall, especially after a long, hot summer...too soon comes winter.

Julie I am enjoying every second of every minute of every hour of everyday of these late summer jewels. I was by my widdle self this weekend and I just had a little party and tucked away all the wonderful smells and sights and sounds of late summer. I was outside every minute I could be there!

This past week in central KY was like Indian Summer, my favorite time of year for so many reasons, mainly I love the harvest time of year for the farmers. But this week will be back up in the 90s. I'm headed to Casey Co on Wednesday to help my friend with late summer projects on her farm. Very much looking forward to getting out of town for the day. Take care, Julie, from KY.

The mums are beautiful. It's in the mid 90's here in Western West Virginia today and my annuals are taking a beating. I will be ready for the pansies and mums.

Well, I was ready and eager for fall and then a final summer heatwave hit today and plans on sticking around all week. Mother Nature can be more than a bit confusing and dare I say a bit of tease sometimes!
