~A DECEMBER DAY~

As the temperature climbs above freezing one brave soul ventures from the confines of the hen house...everyone appears to be getting along and egg production has increased...always a positive sign of contentment...
Evidence remains from late night visitors...deer tracks are detected close to the coop... multiple trails leading  from one field to the next are evident... along with depressions in the snow which disclose popular bedtime sites...
Travis and I make time for outside play...
Winslow Homer would rather guard the playroom...
Yes, I, Wo Wo, turned another year older this week...Wo Wo is the title Travis has given me ...Now, I don't know where or how he came up with this, but what Mr. Dog Trot and I find interesting... Wo Wo is what Travis's dad Tristan called his older brother Kristopher...only time will tell if I will  be called GRANNY...but I rather like Wo Wo...
I am learning first hand, growing old is not for the faint of heart...this morning... I underwent  a procedure called Vnus Closure for varicose veins...the procedure took about an hour... my leg resembles the leg lamp from the movie " A Christmas Story"... Tomorrow I can remove the bandage and don the old lady prescription compression stockings ...while it's nice to get the procedure over with, I still have Christmas errands to address...
As darkness finds us...rain is on it's way...
and an ice storm is heading our way... power outages are  expected...preparations will be addressed
but tonight, with my leg elevated... I'll be watching It's A Wonderful Life...
Tomorrow at 12:11 PM, winter officially arrives...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wo-Wo. I wish you a quick recovery from the procedure.

I'm glad that your chickens are happy and safe.

I got stuck with the name Mamoo by my oldest grandchild. I tried to get her to call me memere
pronounced ( may- mare) but she was quite insistent to call me Mamoo.

We are awaiting the freezing rain too.

I'm looking forward to the days getting longer starting tomorrow. Happy Solstice.
HUgs,
JB

Happy Birthday!!!
How wonderful to have a wee tot to keep you moving about with joy...albeit not too very swiftly with your wonky leg.
The ice is heading our way as well. *shudder*
Be well...be safe...and sending hugs your way...

Does your leg hurt? I hope you feel back to yourself soon.
Every thing is beautiful there at Dog Trot.
Stay safe and I do hope the ice storm isn't as bad as that year you were out of power. Have a very Merry Christmas.

It's so funny how so often our weather comes right to you. We had icy rain last night & still today. Thankfully, temps are not so cold that we had power outages....just not a very pretty day. Hope you had a nice b'day & will have a very merry Christmas. Jan

Yikes..sorry to see you had to have this procedure, but understand why...and hopefully it help.

The pictures of your place and all the snow are absolutely beautiful. Hoping the ice is minimal, if none at all.

Awww... little Travis is so cute all bundled up! That lonely hen was sent as the the "cold canary" for the benefit of the other hens... lol! Sorry about your leg.... but I hear the benefits of the treatment are all good! Maybe stamp "Fragile" on it for the holidays? ;-) Very pretty pictures of your yard and decorations... stay safe in the storm... Happy Birthday Wo-Wo!

Happy birthday!! My birthday was the 20th. How was the vein procedure? I'm thinking of having it done but am a little afraid. Was it painful? I hope you had a wonderful birthday with Travis, WoWo!

I'm so glad you were able to get your leg operated on. Our oldest daughter had to have both of hers fixed last year. She said it is the nicest gift she ever gave herself. She is a hairdresser and has to stand for hours. No longer does her legs hurt!

A belated Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas and an on time Happy New Year.. Getting older is not for the "squeamish". I'll be 73 in Jan. I don't know where the time goes.. Age is only a number though !
I've been reading your blog for a while now. Lost contact with you for a time and am glad to find you again..
I'm so happy that Homer Winslow is still a part of your family. I remember a time when it was "touch and go" with him. He's a handsome boy.
Take care of your leg/legs. I hope you'll heal quickly.
Enjoy resting for a while.
Blessings to you, your sweet Grandson, your "chicks", your family and may Mr. Winslow be with you for a long time to come.
